Channel your inner visionary and cultivate your passion for fashion in the land that has brought about some of the most cherished names in Italian Fashion, such as Gucci, Pucci and Ferragamo. 

Understand and investigate the innovation drivers of today’s society and transform them into a trend forecasting strategy. The Master in Fashion Trend Forecasting combines research and practice to simulate the realities of the fashion industry through a project-based approach. 

Students will analyze the market and study the most important trend forecasting processes through relevant case histories and workshops. Students will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in prestigious company visits, coming into direct contact with a variety of professional figures from the local fashion scene.

The IED Master in Fashion Trend Forecasting is founded on a theoretical-cultural approach that integrates qualitative and quantitative research techniques, allowing students to deepen their understanding of the fashion industry, its links to related creative fields, market demand, and consumption habits. 

Students will learn to effectively express their ideas and communicate their research findings, creating convincing and visually compelling presentations capable of directing important business decisions in a sector with increasingly complex dynamics.  

The course’s final project will see students developing a professional trend book for a real partner company using their acquired analytical and perceptual skills to satisfy the assigned brief.  

Considering the wide range of cultural, numerical, and visual aspects of a trend, this Master is open to all students interested in entering the world of fashion, with a passion for novelty as a common denominator. The course has been designed to prepare students for careers in Trend Forecasting, Cool Hunting, or Research Development roles. The skills and competencies acquired in this program may also be fundamental if students wish to consider a career as a so-called Futurologist or if they are willing to consider job positions in the consultancy industry.

The purpose of this course is to provide visionary thinking and innovation by bringing together different areas such as fashion, society, art, music, and lifestyle in order to provide
an in-depth analysis of current market size and trends.

As a means of maximizing the effectiveness of fashion materials for business improvement, you will learn some of the most state-of-the-art and most powerful visual techniques, strategies and practices.
You will also be able to improve your forecasting and data analysis skills as you become more familiar with trends and target market behavior patterns. In addition, you will explore how to use professional market intelligence and research tools for making your own product - or that of a customer - more focused and tuned for success.

Syllabus

The study programme of the Master’s in Fashion Trend Forecasting in IED Florence consists of both face-to-face lectures and workshops with a practical focus, all alternating to provide you with a well-rounded training based on a 'learning by doing' approach. 

You will have the opportunity to exchange views with industry professionals and leading players as you attend seminars and workshops and have your projects assessed by a panel of fashion industry experts.
