AMITAV GHOSH INAUGURATES IED ACADEMIC YEAR OPENING
The Indian writer, journalist and anthropologist Amitav Ghosh will inaugurate IED Academic Year opening – on November 15 at 11.30 am – with the Lectio Magistralis entitled “What Do We Miss When We Speak of Sustainability?”
On the occasion of his upcoming trip to Italy, Ghosh will share with IED students inspirational content on climate change and the importance of embracing and spreading the culture of sustainability. The issue of climate change is, in fact, more actual than ever and requires to be faced especially by young people with a positive and proactive attitude.
“Speaking of the question of climate change, being interested and concerned is not enough. Anyone, and a designer is on the front line, must feel responsible for a possible improvement – declares Riccardo Balbo, IED Academic Director, who will introduce Ghosh’s Lectio – For these reasons we have invited Amitav Ghosh for the the opening of the Academic Year. What Do We Miss When We Speak of Sustainability? is a theme he really cares about and 4 out of 5 young people today are concerned too”.
Ghosh has always been committed to the issue of climate change, a subject that coincides with a global emergency – that young people really show to be informed about nowadays. To them and therefore to IED students, Ghosh addresses his reflections that he has also collected in his latest book Jungle Nama illustrated by Salman Toor.
The Lectio Magistralis of Amitav Ghosh will open the second edition of the cycle of conferences More Than Monday – Stories of inspiration and will be available in streaming on the platform
Looking forward to seeing you!
