IED and Colegiatura Colombiana Academic Fashion Project
“To show or not to show in uncertain times, start your vision”
IED – Istituto Europeo di Design will collaborate in an initiative developed by the Fashion Design career of the Institución Universitaria Colegiatura Colombiana de Medellín.
This project is part of the synergy and cooperation between the institution and its international academic peers, through collaboration and interaction initiatives in various intercultural contexts and fields of professional interaction. Its objectives are to promote networking and to enrich the training process of students with expanded visions, by promoting an integration of knowledge that allows them to generate projects and products with international scope and the exaltation of difference.
In this collaboration with IED, the Fashion Design career of the Colombian institute is integrated with a group of 26 students from 5th semester, led by teacher Santiago Útima, in a project focused on formal and casual clothing, which includes the process from the author’s design to the development of the collection, establishing emerging micro-niches in the market. In addition, there is a recognized ally for the final exhibition of the collections, Makeno Concept Store.
Manuela Sacco, Teacher and Scientific Coordinator of the IED Milano Master in Fashion Marketing, will offer a workshop for this group of students, considering two stages, the first on April 28th, where Manuela will explain how to develop fashion shows on new digital platforms. In addition, Manuela will present a detailed work methodology so that students can carry out the exercise of proposing and displaying their collections.
Then, in the second session on May 12nd, the students will present their proposals as a result of this exercise, with previous curatorship by teacher Santiago Útima, and Manuela will present a perspective from Fashion Marketing.
The academic team from Colegiatura and IED in charge of the project is made up of:
Mónica Laverde- Jefe de Carrera de Diseño de Modas
Fashion designer, marketing professional, Specialist in Strategic Design and Innovation. Master in Consumer Behavior. He has more than 20 years of experience in the field in areas such as the design of brand experiences, product management and management, as well as in the development of intimate products with high perceived value for companies such as CI Único Interior, Chevignon, Americanino, Wrangler, C&A, Avon, Lebon and Leonisa among others at a commercial level and for signature design lines such as Carlos Nieto and Lina Cantillo. In the academic field, Mónica has been linked from the processes of teaching, research, and social intervention activities where design becomes a mediator and generator of alternatives, for indigenous, rural and urban communities.
Santiago Útima- Docente Facilitador de la carrera de Diseño de Modas
Fashion designer and Master of Arts, with a high capacity for research and analysis in the development of creative projects, maintaining a critical and objective look, both for the commercial and experimental fields.
At present, he is a full-time teacher of the Fashion Design program in Colegiatura Colombiana, being in charge of the direction of the collections to be presented by students in Colombiamoda (the fashion week in Colombia), and also in recognized international events such as Arts of Fashion Competition in the United States and France, FashionClash Festival in Holland and Graduate Fashion Week in England. Santiago was a representative of the Arts of Fashion Foundation in Colombia for three years.
Manuela Sacco – Teacher and Scientific Coordinator of IED Milano Master course in Fashion Marketing
Doctor in Marketing, over twenty years as Market Research Director for multi-national companies, with local and international responsibilities: fmcg, semi-durables, apparel, all distribution channels – Coats Patons, Levi’s, Gillette Group, the most significant experiences. Pioneering observational research, she experienced the supplier side at Envirosell and led worldwide projects – e.g. Adidas, Asprey&Garrard, Binda, Boots, Bottega Verde, C&A, CocaCola, Coin, Dior, Esprit, Foot Locker, Ikea, Kiabi, Lindex, Nike, Notos, Oviesse, P&G, Prestige et Beautè, Philip Morris, Salmoiraghi&Viganò, Samsonite, Selfridges, Silhouette, Starbucks, Villeroy&Boch.
Lecturer for international associations and universities, at IED Moda Milan and Venice she contributes as coordinator and professor of Brand Management, Fashion Marketing, Marketing Intelligence for bachelor and Master courses.
