Sound is an essential, often distinctive ingredient in all communication processes and the sound designer is the one who is capable of combining professionalism with art to use all its forms of communication and production, composing incidental music, creating sound effects and electronic manipulations and building soundtracks for events, theatrical performances, shows, websites, sensorial marketing projects, art installations or presentations.

The cinema, media, DVDs and CD Roms, advertising, multimedia installations, audio and video art, corporate events? there is no limit to the fields where sound designers work? and many of them are still developing now.

The course is recognized by Italian Ministry of Education and Research (MIUR) as an Academic Diploma Level I (180CF)

Get an insight into the creative professions: Sound Designer

Sound now pervades through all things, and no form of modern communication is without it, from the subway to the internet, from radio to fashion, from video to advertising to the media in general.

The sound designer is able to work with all types of sound communication and to produce soundtracks consisting of music, speech, sound effects and other electronic manipulations, using finished products (including but not limited to music) and tools to create sound – principally the computer, but also recording studios, mixers etc. The applications of sound design are infinite, with many still being actively developed,

such as sound for the web; applications include cinema, media, dvd and cd-rom, advertising, installations, multimedia, audio and video art, company events and exhibitions.

Radio Director for Rai Radio 2, Live Sound Engineer, Sound Editor at Technicolor Sound Services, where he followed the post-production of the Italian language versions of television series and films for theatrical distribution. He has worked for Buena Vista, Paramount, Warner Brothers, Universal, 20th Century Fox.

Tiziana Amicuzi

Tiziana Amicuzi
Managing Director of tad (studio) design, a creative design and experimentation atelier that combines multiple languages, ranging from architecture to scenography, from cinema to digital arts and new media. Working in a multidisciplinary form, he creates immersive and interactive environments, videogames and interaction design projects, urban cross-media and performing media paths.

Sound engineer - Studio Acoustic Designer,  Sound Engineer for both music and audio post production. His work focuses on acoustic design, recording studio wiring and studio work. I acquired skills in the live field as a designer for great soundtracks and events such as presentations and showcases for companies.

Steve Della Casa
Former Director of Torino Film Festival, President of Turin Piedmont Film Commission and Artistic Director of Roma Fiction Fest. He is currently director of Sottodiciotto Film Festival. He is author and presenter of Hollywood Party (Rai - Radiotre). He directed TV progammes for Rai (Ciak TV), La7 (La 25aora), Tele + (I duellanti) and Sky (Commedia Mon Amour). He has written volumes for Lindau, Marsilio, Donzelli, Mondadori, Electa, Il Castoro.

Fabio Fortunati

Fabio Fortunati
Sound Designer, in 2011 he graduated in IED - Istituto Europeo di Design. Audio Producer as a Sound Recordist, a Sound Editor and a Sound Designer. He has collaborated with brands and clients such as National Geographic, Amnesty International, Pampero Fundacion Italia, Sky Arte, DIgitaLife, and with directors such as Gabriele Salvatores, Paolo Sorrentino, Michele Placido and Pietro Marcello, among others.

Mino Freda

Mino Freda
Musician and Art Historian. Composer, Arranger and Producer of music film, documentaries, short films, TV, theater, visual arts and other multimedia sectors. In 2006 he composed the original music of Mario Monicelli's latest film Le Rose del Deserto (Luna Rossa production). In 2013 he received the Franco Enriquez 2013 award for classical and film music. Author of various record productions with the CNI label, he is Owner of the CM Studio, dealing with audio production and post-production.

Giorgio Galotti

Art Critic. In 2016 he founded DAMA, a new concept of independent and collaborative art fair dedicated to international galleries. He is Contributor for Italy of the online magazine Art Research Map and collaborates with some Italian art magazines.

Riccardo Giagni

Riccardo Giagni
Composer and Musicologist, he has worked extensively in national and international discography as Producer, Arranger and Author (with Matia Bazar, Miguel Bosé, Grazia Di Michele, Ivan Cattaneo and Cristiano De André). Since the late '90s, he work mostly for cinema: he composed the original soundtracks of feature films directed by Marco Bellocchio, Mimmo Calopresti, Alessandro Piva and Sabina Guzzanti.

Vittorio Giannelli

Vittorio Giannelli
Composer, Arranger, Guitarist, specialised in music for images. He has made soundtracks for films, cartoons and documentaries for various productions, such as Warner Chappel, RAI Cinema, Clipper Media, Giochi Preziosi, Aurora production, Mondo TV. As a Guitarist he played on a world tour with Il Volo, produced by Tony Renis and Humberto Gatica, for over 35 concerts in America, Canada and Europe.

Francesco Lenzi

Producer, recording & mixing Engineer and Sound Designer. A DJ and radio programmer, he later dedicated himself to discography, jingles and video and theater soundtracks in the role of producer and author of texts and music.

Stefano Maggio

Stefano Maggio
Italian-German, he works as a Composer and Producer for Italian and European companies such as Rai, Hitmania, McDonald's, Nike, Prosieben. One of the first manufacturers to recognize the enormous potential of mobile applications and to exploit it from a musical point of view. Vocalcoach of the most watched TV casting show in Europe, Popstars, aired on Prosieben.

Filippo Manni

Coordinator of Sound Design, he is Music Producer and Sound Designer. He collaborates with record companies, brands and audiovisual production companies including: RAI, Ministry of Sound, Universe, Hitmania, Nike, Mercedes, Unicef, FAO, WWF, Germany next Top Model. He founded the NUtone Lab studio.

Simone Martinelli

Musician, bass and synth Player, an eclectic artist by nature, after studying he participated to numerous musical and record projects, also very different from one another in style. It goes from the cultured music to the author's rock, from the creation of soundtracks for short films and reportages to jazz fusion and electronic music.

Giulio Maresca

Giulio Maresca
Founder of Ipologica Recordings, electronic music label with more than 30 releases of national and international artists. As a DJ and Performer he has played in the best clubs in Rome, such as Animal Social Club, Brancaleone, The Egg London, Akab, Rialto, Init, Qube and has participated in festivals such as Dissonanze, Lpm, Quit, Signal, Città Sonore. As a Producer he collaborates with many Italian and foreign labels. Since 2013 he is resident of Container.

Mirko Perri

Mirko Perri
Sound Designer. Founder and Manager of InHouse, a company specialized in audio production and audio post-production for the film industry. He personally edited the sound design and the sound effects of films and television series such as La grande bellezza, Youth, Young Pope, Veloce come il Vento, Smetto quando voglio, Dogman, Anime Nere, Loro, Il Primo Re.

Maurizio Rizzuto

Maurizio Rizzuto
He graduated from the Conservatory and participated as a drummer in several tours with world-renowned jazz musicians such as Steve Turré, George Garzone, Harvie Swartz, Gary Bartz and others. In the theatrical field he has composed the music for the new Bertold Brecht Judith Von Shimoda and numerous shows. He currently collaborates with Sabina Guzzanti and has produced the music of Raiot, and in collaboration with Riccardo Giagni, he has written the music of W Zapatero!, Le ragioni dell'aragosta and Draquila.

Francesco Rosati

Electronic Musician, Sound & Visual Artist, Creative Technologist. He divides his professional activity between audio / video live-sets presented in Italian and international festivals, including Le Bains Numerique, 90dB Festival, didactics with workshops about C'74 Max software for interaction and new media, up to the realization of music for events and fashion shows related to brands including Gucci. Professor of Synthesis of Sound and Interactive Systems at IED Rome.

Gianpaolo Sammarco

Gianpaolo Sammarco
He studied piano, composition and direction, under the guidance of Maestro Stefano Ordine. He performs clinical activity as a psychoanalyst. Conducts research in the field of sound and aesthetics psychology. He collaborates with the Museo Hermann Nitsch in Naples. He teaches Semiotics of Art and Theory of Perception and Psychology of Form.
