The Fashion Design Three-year course gives the student a solid cultural and technical base, exploring both the methods and the operations sides, training a highly flexible specialist capable of working in various types of environments and disciplines: from the small artisanal producer, to the small-medium size company, all the way up to the largest multinationals.

Title – The First Level Academic Diploma is recognized by MIUR (Ministry for Education, University and Research) and equated with the Bachelor’s Degree issued by Universities.

Professional profiles: Fashion Designer, Textile Designer, Product Manager, Creative Researcher, Trend Researcher e Textile Designer.

Get an insight into the creative professions: Fashion Designer

This is a Three-year course is based on IED’s successful and advanced educational system, which constantly generates highly skilled creative fashion graduates able to go on to successfully and establishing themselves at all levels and in all fields of the fashion industry.

In order to gain confidence in design basics, the first year programme includes theoretical studies as well as practice-based modules focused on designing. In the second year studies go on upon the knowledge that students have acquired in the previous 2 semesters. The third and final year is dedicated to improving work skills up to professional industry standards. Therefore, the fifth and sixth semester are dedicated to the Final Project and to preparing the students for their professional life after IED.

Fabio Di Nicola - Course Coordinator

Fabio Di Nicola - Course Coordinator
Stylist for his own menswear brand founded in 1988. At the same time he is a consultant and collaborates with important fashion companies. He made garments for the Wim Wenders film Palermo shooting, A perfect day by Ferzan Ozpetek, Different from those, Albakiara. In 2008 he designed the official uniform of Bologna F.C. He has also collaborated with artists in the music field including the Subsonica, Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi, Solis Quartet.

Margherita Abbozzo

Margherita Abbozzo
Graduated in Art History and then in Fine Arts at the Byam Shaw Art School in London. She writes on contemporary art, photography and science for numerous Italian and international art and photography publications. She’s also a teacher, keeps a visual blog for a radio station and runs art classes and workshops. Her works are in public and private collections in Italy, England and America and her books are in the permanent collections of TATE Modern and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Simona Ciacchi

Simona Ciacchi
After having completed artistic studies, she specialised in fashion accessories. She merges pure creativity with technical skills, due to her experience as CAD Model Maker. She has been involved in the designing and planning of leather goods collections. After working at Gucci, Giorgio Armani and other international luxury companies, she decided to open her own stylistic studio coordinating a creative team.

Marco Innocenti

Marco Innocenti
Owner and Founder of Kidstudio. Designer, Illustrator, Art Director and Photographer with experiences in copy, typography and text editing. Expert in magazine design and publishing, he is involved in cultural and tourist promotion.

Giovanni Iozzi

Giovanni Iozzi
Founder of Volumio, a multimedia start up, his fields of work are Interaction Design, Web Design, Digital Marketing and Growth Hacking. He cooperates with several R&D international teams, ranging from multimedia applications to technology innovation in hi-end products. Graduated in Psychology, his main interest is technological innovation, about which he is particularly interested in the human and cognitive aspects, for national and international fashion brands.

Juliana De Nicola

Juliana De Nicola
Juliana De Nicola is a Designer and Researcher of Italian-Austrian trends. Born in Vienna, after art studies and a BA in Fashion Design she started working as a Freelance Fashion Designer in Italy, China, Japan, India. Through the passion for travel, the underground world carries on a continuous research to launch personal projects in the world of fashion and art.  

Serena Signorini

Serena Signorini
She deals with research, proposing materials and colors, designing, prototyping and sampling development, coordination and development of collections, production, realisations and relationships with the production, commercial, distribution, communication and marketing sectors.

Camilla Di Biagio

Camilla Di Biagio
She began her career by organising runway shows and following fashion events and theatrical productions as a costumer at the age of 17. Camilla specialises in event organisation and shooting production, particularly of fashion exhibitions and runway shows both in Italy and abroad. Some of her past collaborations include: Studio Galgano, Redstudio, Alta Roma, Stefania d’Alessando Make-up, Sergio Valente, Philip Morris Italia, You, Mandarina Duck and Bulgari.

Virginia Fani

Virginia Fani
Graduated in Management Engineering in 2014, currently PhD at the Department of Industrial Engineering. She carries out research and consultancy in the supply chain management area, with particular attention to fashion companies. Her main skills are project management and optimization of production processes.

Sabrina Fichi

Sabrina Fichi
Graduated in Fashion Design at the University of Florence, she has been a modeling, draping and tailoring teacher for more than a decade, as well as advanced and specific courses in Fashion Design, at various international fashion schools. She is the owner of SabrinAtelier, an atelier of fine tailoring craftsmanship and historical-theatrical customs.

Eleonora Niccolai

Eleonora Niccolai
Diploma in Fashion Design with specialization in Knitwear. In 2010 she presented her first autumn winter collection, receiving the award for best emerging designer. Today she is dedicated to the creation and experimentation of knitwear research and collaborates with different brands, following their knitwear collections.

Matteo Giulio Pagliai

Matteo Giulio Pagliai
Director, Executive Producer and Editor. Founder of Pagliai Film Group and EcoFrames, film and television production companies. He graduated in Film Direction and specialised in experimental filmmaking, working with different genres as Executive Producer.

Luca Parenti

Luca Parenti
Textile and Graphic Designer, graduated in Culture and Technique of Fashion - Fabric and knitwear. He worked as a draftsman and trend researcher. He is Creative Director of the handmade tshirt line Mamuk and Founder of Kidstudio. He has published Manual of Textile Culture, KSC editions.

Paola Passeri

Paola Passeri
Architect, specialised in motion graphic and video design. Professional development of media for visual communication: from graphic design to corporate and promotional videos, to audiovisual products for educational and teaching, to museum video settings, to contents for interactive video installations.

Stefania Pelliccia

Stefania Pelliccia
After graduating in Sculpture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts and specialising at the University of Seville, she worked with institutions and individuals, coordinating events of art, entertainment and fashion. She currently works with graphic studios and companies as a freelance illustrator for projects related to food, fashion and events.

Renato Stasi

Renato Stasi
Designer - responsible for product development, fashion design teacher - accessory designer. He has been working for over twenty years on activities related to the development and production of accessories for clothing collections. He worked in various design areas, for some of the major companies and fashion designers such as Alessandro Dell'Acqua - Redwall Group, Emilio Pucci LVMH group, Angelos Bratis, and other.  

Emanuele Poli

Emanuele Poli
Designer and founder of f.o.p.p., a network of professionals working in the field of communication. He has been working for private companies, cultural institutions and public administration for over 15 years. At the same time as his commitment as a Designer, he has gained considerable experience as a teacher by collaborating with different schools for the teaching of matters related to Design and Visual culture.

Chiara Caramelli

Chiara Caramelli
Product Designer with a professional background gained in design studios and in the Mandarina Duck company as Senior Lead Designer for the Office and Luggage collections, since 2005 he has been a consultant in the leather goods / luggage sector for various international brands. In 2013 he opened Chiara Caramelli Design Lab for design and production consultancy. It is the owner of invention patents in the luggage sector and of the MYO mine yours ours brands, washable paper bags and ZOOM BAGS, innovative travel trolleys.

Valeria La Salvia

Valeria La Salvia
Graduated in Fashion Culture and Styling and specialized in Modeling, she is responsible for the social tailoring of FLO as well as a sample seamstress of Arti 21 - a modeling and tailoring studio. Since 2009 she has been teaching technical fashion courses at Florence University of the Arts, Arti 21 and at IED.
