Context – The course explores Italian Design Thinking, which is globally recognized for generating projects with a unique soul, blending emotions and perceptions with a rigid functional arrangement. Students start to interact with the Italian Design System, taking expressive inspiration from companies and designers. The course teaches how to become Designers working for a future that is more respectful of humans and nature.

Methodology and structure -  This educational pathway introduces students to the profession providing a broad range of competences: cultural, instrumental and methodological. It examines the cultural elements characterizing design, architecture, art, sociology and anthropology. Marketing is also introduced, in order to explain how to analyse brand values and the positioning on the market and how to interpret and anticipate trends.
Participants acquire a strong design methodology that enables a strategic design thinking, thanks to which they learn to enhance psychophysical wellness through a conscious use of materials, colours, finishes and light. Then they get the expressive instruments to develop the project and tell about it: free drawing, software for 3D modelling, renderings, and models.

IED educational methodology is based on lectures, workshops, and practical exercises. It focuses on real experiences, including several visits, meetings and projects in collaboration with prominent companies and institutions, such as Hotel Bauer and the Collection Peggy Guggenheim in Venice, just to mention two that took part to the past editions of the course.

Remarkable is that teacher who accomplishes himself what he teaches to others.
