Monsters - Mostri in Mostra
On May 21 and 22, at the venue in Via Pompeo Leoni 3, IED Milano opens its doors to MONSTERS, a group exhibition that brings to life the perspective of tomorrow’s creatives.
Born from an interdisciplinary workshop, the project involves second and third year students from the Undergraduate Programs in Fashion, Design, Communication, and Visual Arts. The result is a selection of 12 projects by 15 young talents, each interpreting the concept of the “monster” through different languages, materials, and sensibilities.
Immersive installations, objects, accessories, and garments come together in an exhibition path that explores the contemporary fears of Gen Z, shaping both a personal and collective reflection on what is “monstrous.”
The exhibition is curated by Loredana Parmesani, art critic, art historian, and lecturer at IED Milan.
📍 Where: IED Theater and garden, IED Milano – Via Pompeo Leoni 3

“The word monstrum in classical Latin evokes a prodigy, a portent—something that manifests outside the customary order of nature and, for this very reason, arouses both dread and wonder, repulsion and attraction. The monstrous being is, etymologically, that which is shown—and this paradoxical vocation for display is an integral part of its nature. The monster does not hide: it reveals itself. It is within this dialectical tension between the visible and the ineffable, between form and its excess, that the project proposed to the students takes shape.”
