We present a moment to celebrate 2024 Visual Arts Graduates and reflect on how they portray the world surrounding them
Forward thinking visual narratives conceived to challenge and create a direct impact on society
The current context invites to constantly reflect on individual and collective convictions. Society's values and priorities change rapidly, often in a matter of clicks. Social networks, in this sense, have taken on a notorious role in punishing or elevating individuals, events or social movements.
The generation of young designers, aware of these changes, respond to this complex scenario eager of expressing their vision; either with a clear political position or with genuine doubts, by expressing in their creations their concerns.
To do so, they investigate the use of the latest technologies with traditional techniques to enhance the importance of heritage, explore digital environments while strengthening their awareness and commitment to the environment and the planet they live in, and celebrate the plurality and diversity of a convulsed society determined to raise its voice.
Welcome to the IED Visual Arts Fest 2024.

Cooking a magazine
Print magazines are like great meals, you need all sense to experience them
Opening a printed magazine generates a wide range of emotions. From the enthusiasm of beginning a thrilling reading to the feel or smell of the different papers.
The images inside evoke dreams, diverse realities and great possibilities together with committed texts to current affairs. The role of the designer is to know how to combine both parts to create an exquisite final result. Like a fine chef.

Al filo de la hoja
ABONO 02
ABONO is an experimental editorial platform created, managed, designed and produced by alumni and students of the School of Visual Arts at IED Madrid, which this year presents its third issue "Al filo de la hoja".
This new issue explores the parallels between design and cuisine, highlighting the fundamental importance of process knowledge and the continuous search for aesthetic references in both disciplines.

Live performances
Turning a great show into a once-in-a-lifetime experience

404 error
The mistake as a deliberate statement
As technology becomes more advanced, a new creative movement is taking shape—one that challenges the idea of perfection. Instead of striving for outstanding results, embracing glitches, errors, and imperfections has become as powerful tool of expression.

Happy Accidents
Created by Alvaro Quecedo from IED Kunsthal Bilbao aims to manifest the new aesthetic frontier that emerges from error and entropy to produce unknown results and experiment outside the predefined parameters.
